Brahminy Kite
The Brahminy Kite is a graceful and elegant bird of prey.
I had a special moment where it showed up for me, flying along side me as I drove, just after I’d mate a big decision based on a gut feeling. It has since represented intuition.
I'd just left an off-the-grid rainforest community deep in the Daintree, a crazy place I'd had to cross a croc-infested river to access. I’d planned on staying a couple of weeks, to enjoy the abundance of exotic fruit, and experience living solely and sustainably off the land. However, after 3 days I upped and left.
Despite trying to rationalise it all in my mind, and stay the course, I couldn't deny this gut feeling that I simply wasn't meant to be there.
As I drove away, and the Brahminy Kite circled by, I felt my energy return, and I felt harmony within myself again. I had followed my intuition, and it’s amazing how when I do this, there’s often some sign there to affirm it.
I've come to realise I broadly have two parts of me that make decisions, my rational mind and my intuition. My rational mind, whilst highly important for day to day function, can sometimes muddy my mind in weighing up the big decisions of life. For it considers situations that will never happen, and considers things that matter to other people, but not me. It has also been shaped by my past experience and conditioning.
Intuition comes more as a feeling, rather than thoughts in my mind, and often feels like a magnetic pull towards something, or a feeling of disconnect to my current circumstances. And when I follow my intuition, it leads me to what feels like "exactly where I'm meant to be". I wouldn't have become an artist, and made these very cards, if I hadn't followed my intuition.
The Brahminy Kite reminds us that sometimes there's feelings or things don't 'make sense', yet there is huge value in trusting our intuition.
Do you remember a time when you felt strong intuition? What did it feel like in your body? Do you feel you've found your calling in life? Could training and trusting your intuition help guide you to where you're meant to be?
