Cassowary

Being in the presence of the Cassowary, in all its prehistoric glory, was like being in the presence of a dinosaur.

I felt humbled, dwarfed, and awake to the fact that us humans, we are new here. The evolution of the Cassowary originated around 60 million years ago!

I was reminded that this world is not for humans alone. It is for all life. And all life is equal in the eyes of nature. Yes, all life is governed by nature, and every living thing is subject to impermanence, growth and decay - the same laws that apply to all.

With all the modern science and intelligence, the Cassowary reminds us to remain humble to the wisdom of nature. There is a lot we know, a lot we don't know, and also a lot we don't know we don't know, yet. If that makes sense?

Humility is a virtue. By remaining open-minded, we are more likely to find ourselves with opportunities to learn, grow and evolve, as both individuals and as a human race.

Cassowaries lost and regained their flight a number of times as they evolved. They remind us to stay humble and open-minded to all possibilities.
