Sacred Kingfisher
Before I'd ever seen one, I was magnetically drawn to the Sacred Kingfisher.
They were number one on my bird spotting list. During lockdown, I would research their latest sightings on eBird, and planned to travel and find them as soon as restrictions were lifted.
And then magically, the Sacred Kingfisher came to me.
When I saw a flash of vivid teal just at the back of my Mum's property, I knew instantly what it was. There was something magical about it. Like time and place didn't even exist in its presence, it was simply here and now, and so was I.
The Sacred Kingfisher made me believe in magic, and taught me that magic can only exist beyond the constructs of time and place.
Magic is a feeling that can't be relayed or described to someone else. It can't be captured or shared. Or proved. It is simply a feeling that is sacred to the here and now. The eternal fire of life, and creation, burns only in the present moment, not in the past or future.
Creation is magic. Something comes out of nothing. From non-manifest to manifest. Even me writing this, right now, is magic. I am creating something entirely new, completely out of thin air. Creativity and magic are the great gifts of nature and are available to everyone. By unlocking our own creativity we can create magic in the world. It saddens me when I hear people say "Iām not creative". Already by saying that, they're squashing their own creativity, by denying its very existence within them. Or "I've never been creative" - but the past doesn't matter, creation happens in the present.
The Sacred Kingfisher reminds us to believe in the magic within us, and that the more deeply we believe, the more magical our lives will be.
What is your relationship like with your own creativity? If you believed you were deeply creative, what would you create next?
